Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Spin the Wheel stores in your browser, what is sent to the service, and how public sharing works.
Last updated: August 31, 2026
Summary for schools and teachers
Spin the Wheel is designed so a basic wheel can be used without creating an account. Most current-wheel settings and local saved wheels stay in the browser you are using. Some optional features, including cloud saving, public short links, verified spin receipts, background-image uploads, AI Wheel generation, and site analytics, involve server-side or third-party processing.
Information and where it is stored
| Feature | Information | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Current wheel and local library | Entries, wheel titles, styles, results history, logo data, sound choices, theme preference, and local branding presets. | Your browser’s local storage. Clearing browser data or using a different browser/device can remove or separate this information. |
| Optional cloud wheels and shortcuts | Account identifier, available account profile details such as name or email, wheel name, serialized wheel content, tool type, save timestamps, and the wheel types you choose for personalized shortcuts with their selection counts and timestamps. | Service database, only after you sign in and use cloud saving or personalized shortcuts. You can delete cloud wheels from My Wheels; shortcut preferences are retained only to personalize the shortcut row. |
| Short links | Serialized wheel configuration, title, tool type, creation time, and a view counter. | Service database. Anyone who has a short-link URL can open the shared wheel content. |
| Verified spin receipts | Wheel title, entrant labels, winner, fairness commitment and reveal values, timestamps, and an optional signed-in account identifier. | Service database. Receipt pages are public to anyone who has the receipt link. |
| Background images | The image file you upload for a wheel background and its storage URL. | Managed object storage and the relevant wheel configuration. Do not upload sensitive or identifying images. |
| AI Wheel | Your prompt and requested option count are sent to the AI generation service to create wheel options. | Processed server-side for generation. The application does not maintain a separate prompt-history table; generated choices may be stored locally or in cloud wheels if you save them. |
| Site analytics | Page-view and technical usage information made available by the analytics script, such as visited pages, referrer, browser or device context, and aggregate traffic metrics. | Analytics service. Wheel entries, AI prompts, and receipt contents are not intentionally sent as analytics events by this application. |
How we use information
We use the information described above to run the wheel, save or restore a wheel when you request it, create shared links and verifiable receipts, provide optional sign-in and cross-device access, generate AI Wheel options, protect the service, and understand aggregate site use. We do not use wheel entries or AI prompts to serve advertising.
Public sharing and school use
Short links and receipt links are designed to be shareable. Treat the contents of those links as public. Before sharing a classroom wheel, review every entry, title, image, and result it contains. Teachers and organizations are responsible for deciding whether a particular use complies with their own privacy, student-data, and consent requirements.
Your choices and deletion
You can remove browser-stored wheel data by using the app’s reset and deletion controls or by clearing this site’s browser storage. You can delete cloud wheels through My Wheels while signed in. Because short links and receipts are public resources, avoid creating them with sensitive information. The site does not currently publish a dedicated privacy email; use the contact channel provided by the organization or school that directed you to this service for support or privacy questions.
Service providers and changes
Spin the Wheel relies on hosting, storage, authentication, AI-generation, and analytics providers to operate the service. Those providers may process information needed to deliver their services and may have their own privacy terms. We may update this policy when the product or its data practices change; the revision date above will be updated when we do.
